
The Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS), Lucknow, is proud to announce the 1st Sir B.N. Rau National Essay Writing Competition to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Constitution of India. This competition aims to honor the legacy of Sir B.N. Rau, one of India’s foremost constitutional architects, and promote scholarly discourse on the interplay between fair trial rights and scientific investigation.
*Theme: Harmonious Interplay of Fair Trial and Scientific Investigation: A Constitutional Odyssey*
Participants are encouraged to explore the dynamic relationship between fair trial principles and forensic science within India’s constitutional framework. Essays should address the role of scientific advancements in criminal investigations and their impact on the justice system, focusing on constitutional integrity, technological challenges, and ethical considerations.

Awareness: Highlight forensic science’s critical role in modern criminal investigations.

Research Skills: Foster detailed research on the integration of law and science.
Analytical Thinking: Encourage critical reflection on advancements and ethical issues.

*Eligibility* : Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognized institutions in Law and Forensic Science across India.

- Word Limit: 2500-3000 words (excluding footnotes)
- Font: Times New Roman (14 for headings, 12 for body, 10 for footnotes)
- Spacing: 1.5 for body, 1.0 for footnotes
- Citation Style: OSCOLA
- Plagiarism Limit: 10% (AI-generated content prohibited)
- Co-Authorship: Not permitted
Essays may include speaking footnotes (up to 50 words each), though these are optional. Subsequent publication requires prior approval from the organizers.
